Garth Robinson from South Africa has started a neat little website based on the heritage of J-Bay in South Africa.
This link takes you to that website. Check out the random stuff on Ant ‘Doc’ Van Den Heuwel (r.i.p). The decal above was designed by Garth Robinson for limited edition surfboards that were supposed to pay a royalty to ‘Doc’, but he passed on back in 2003.

Ant van den Heuwel RIP
An interesting site to look at.
Surfers’ are fascinated by surfboard design. The link to this site looks at surfboards when they really were changing a lot from 1975 to 1985. From experience garnered through years of research compiling the switch-foot books, generally speaking it seems that most innovative concepts took at least a decade to become mainstream. The ‘fish’ outline would fall into this category as well, it took ten years for people to accept it again.
Photograph of Lauren Lindsay Hill by the talented Haley McBride.
Surfer/environmental activist Lauren Lindsay Hill is one of the finest female noseriders I have surfed with. At 23 years of age, based in St Augustine Florida, hopefully some more nice photos will soon present themselves.
This link goes to Lauren’s gracious blog and all things she is passionate about.

Scenes from the super hard to find surf film ‘Under The Sun’ which toured in Australia Jan 2009. Apparently it is coming out on dvd soon, well worth it. Shot on 16mm by the uber talented young Cyrus Sutton.
A short stylish and smooth surfing film sent by a pal in Western Australia, Kent Turkich. This link goes to his surfing related blog
switch editor ‘AC’ kneeboarding. Screenshot sent by Cyrus Sutton from his film ‘Under The Sun’.
switch editor AC has been very busy finishing his second book and promises to post lots of things to this blog when he has finished. (Felicity his wife)
An interesting looking shortboard from the early 1970’s.
